5 Ways to Put Your Affirmations on Steroids
By Shawna Fields
I’ll admit it. I’m an affirmation JUNKIE! So many people think they don’t work, or that nothing is manifesting in their lives, or have given up on them completely.
Make way for the paradigm shift…
If affirmations make you feel better, even for a minute, then they WORK!
One entire minute of doing something that adds to your happiness daily can lead to big gains. So let’s get down to business. Gone are the days where you just say some positive phrases to yourself every now and then in the mirror. Here are 5 ways that you can inject Superpower into your Affirmations and make them stick in your head like super glue.
1. Recorded Tattoos:
I have been using affirmations for decades. Yep that means I started as a “Youngin”.
2. Yourself on demand:
Back when I started training Capoeira (a Brazilian Martial Art), there were many movements that were hard for me to learn physically. So I figured why not give myself an edge over everyone else and train my brain as well as my body.
I dusted off my trusty old cassette recorder and taped about 30 minutes worth of positive affirmations that outlined how awesome my movements had become. I listened to them every night and fell asleep to the sound of my own voice wooing my subconscious brain to perform better.
Gasp! Yes that’s right, I recorded myself; oh how we all can’t stand the sound of our own voices! I powered through and did it anyway. Results? You know it. I went on to train for many years becoming a top level belt.
Create Affirmations for the areas that you want to improve in your life, bust out your smart phone (these days you don’t need that old cassette thing-a-ma-jig) and get to recording. Play them back at night when you are falling asleep and allow the thoughts deep into your mind.
4. Stairway to Heaven:
When I was training for my first fitness competition, I was afraid that my uh um, “Derriere” wasn’t going to look as good as I wanted it to.
So I decided that I would use my workout time wisely, and with every climb I took during my cardio on the Stairmill, I would say positive affirmations about my “Behind”. It was 50 minutes of complete mind and body training. When show time came, wow it looked good, if I must be forced to pat myself on the back. I know it was the mental training I did that helped give me the edge.
5. Who said elevator music was boring:
Say your affirmations to instrumental music! This is by far my favorite way to roll.
Music evokes emotion, and when you mix emotions with super powered positivity… well anything can happen. My sister and I do this and we end up singing our affirmations to the tunes that get stuck in our heads throughout the day. It’s the best.
The trick to all of this is that you must keep on repeating whichever method you choose. You want the positive vibes so you can be empowered and master your universe. “I AM” and “I Am GRATEFUL” are my favorite ways to say affirmations.
As I am writing this, I’m shouting loud and proud…
“I AM GRATEFUL THAT WE ARE ALL AWESOME, WOO!”
