Gifts from A Course in Miracles

This poetic arrangement of quotes from the Course makes a nice gift for those who teach it. Likewise, teachers may like giving it to loved ones who struggle with the text. ~ ap

A Course in Miracles

HAIL MARY

Hail Mary, full of grace: thou art welcome in this place behind my face where we heard God's Word for the whole holy human race, quietly on Third Base. The Lord is with thee and we who see thou art blessed among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb who delivered Lazarus from a tomb, Jesus. Holy Mary mother of God, even me when I feel odd. Neutralize my belief in losers and winners and pray for us sinners... now and at the hour of our death, use my breath to release my fears and God himself shall wipe away all tears. amen.

A Course In Miracles

This is a course in miracles. It is a required course. Only the time you take it is voluntary. Free will does not mean that you can establish the curriculum. It means only that you can elect what you want to take at a given time. The course does not aim at teaching the meaning of love, for that is beyond what can be taught. It does aim, however, at removing the blocks to the awareness of love's presence, which is your natural inheritance. The opposite of love is fear, but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite. This course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way:
Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God.

The Course was channeled by Jesus Christ to a psychology professor at Columbia Presbyterian in the 1960s. Meanwhile at a different place in space, the creators of this website and many who didn't know each other at the time were all children individually praying for God to tell us what we're supposed to do now... now that we're here in a world where people pray to you one day a week and then proceed to forget about you. He began answering us immediately with the paragraph above which Helen Shucman wrote down. She shared this information with a man who was her boss and thus scripted to help her. Together they organized all the words into a book called A Course In Miracles which shook man to the core of his religion, where he must evaluate what he thinks, says and does in the name of God (or Allah or any other supreme being one might believe in.) ~ the ACIM Students in this partnership of Awakening People.

WHAT IS FORGIVENESS? Workbook II, 1

Forgiveness recognizes what you thought your brother did to you has not occurred. It does not pardon sins and make them real. It sees there was no sin. And in that view are all your sins forgiven. What is sin, except a false idea about God's Son? Forgiveness merely sees its falsity, and therefore lets it go. What then is free to take its place is now the Will of God.

An unforgiving thought is one which makes a judgment that it will not raise to doubt, although it is not true.  The mind is closed, and will not be released.  The thought protects projection, tightening its chains, so that distortions are more veiled and more obscure; less easily accessible to doubt, and further kept from reason.  What can come between a fixed projection and the aim that it has chosen as its wanted goal?

An unforgiving thought does many things.  In frantic action it  pursues its goal, twisting and overturning what it sees as interfering with its chosen path.  Distortion is its purpose, and the means by which it would accomplish it as well.  It sets about its furious attempts to smash reality, without concern for anything that would appear to pose a contradiction to its point of view.

Forgiveness, on the other hand, is still, and quietly does nothing.  It offends no aspect of reality, nor seeks to twist it to appearances it likes.  It merely looks, and waits, and judges not. He who would not forgive must judge, for he must justify his failure to forgive. But he who would forgive himself must learn to welcome truth exactly as it is.

Do nothing, then, and let forgiveness show you what to do, through Him Who is your Guide, your Savior and Protector, strong in hope, and certain of your ultimate success.  He has forgiven you already, for such is His function, given Him by God.  Now must you share His function, and forgive whom He has saved, whose sinlessness He sees, and whom He honors as the Son of God.

ACIM Lesson 333

Forgiveness ends the dream of conflict here. Conflict must be resolved. It cannot be evaded, set aside, denied, disguised, seen somewhere else, called by another name, or hidden by deceit of any kind, if it would be escaped. It must be seen exactly as it is, where it is thought to be, in the reality which has been given it, and with the purpose that the mind accorded it. For only then are its defenses lifted, and the truth can shine upon it as it disappears.

Father, forgiveness is the light You chose to shine away all conflict and all doubt, and light the way for our return to You. No light but this can end our evil dream. No light but this can save the world. For this alone will never fail in anything, being Your gift to Your beloved Son.

ACIM Lesson 62

Forgiveness is my function as the light of the world. It is your forgiveness that will bring the world of darkness to the light. It is your forgiveness that lets you recognize the light in which you see. Forgiveness is the demonstration that you are the light of the world. Through your forgiveness does the truth about yourself return to your memory. Therefore in your forgiveness lies your salvation. Read more.

ACIM LESSON 82

The light of the world brings peace to every mind through my forgiveness. My forgiveness is the means by which the light of the world finds expression through me. My forgiveness is the means by which I become aware of the light of the world in me. My forgiveness is the means by which the world is healed, together with myself. Let me, then, forgive the world, that it may be healed along with me.

UNCONVENTIONAL VIEW

The answer came after cancer: I am not a victim of the world I see... I am its inventor (ACIM Lesson 32). Doesn't that flip the tables on anything I could complain about?

Cancer was in my DNA since Day 1, or it was sent because I had ignored and or lied to myself about certain feelings in the past. Feelings flow like water into the body of the son or daughter. The feelings were dealt with (it's a process) and now we're waking up to the truth of who we always were, but didn't know it because no one told us (laughing at this). Our parents would have had to be awake already, but they were stuck in dogma they didn't understand. Most of them are still asleep. Be gentle with them. It needed to be this way in order for us to be here now typing/reading this. We were always supposed to reveal it to ourselves first, and then others.

So if a problem crops up, remember that you sent it to yourself (for some reason that doesn't matter). Forgive yourself sooner than later. It reduces suffering. Notice yourself complaining and say Thank you instead, with a smile for whoever might be straight ahead. You were sent to heal my oldest thinking and I am grateful! Abundant blessings upon you! How may I help you? I will listen for what the Holy Spirit reveals and share it without hesitation... invite everyone into our whole holy conversation... peace for every piece of God's pi - which is an infinite component of a circle, my dear. ~ LS, awakening person.
