Looking With Love
by Livnam Kaur
We spend so much time looking for love. Be it romantic love, self-love, familial love, friendly love, even spiritual love. St. Teresa of Avila said, “It is love alone that gives worth to all things.” And we all know this on the deepest level of our being so we seek to find, we look for love. But rarely do we look with love.
Have you ever been in a relationship with someone and later realized that you had seen only what you wanted to see? I have. I remember, when I was in my 20s, being heart broken over a guy and my best friend saying to me, “You don’t love him. You love who you thought he was.” Immediately I knew she was right.
Looking with love means we see clearly because love is within us, flowing from us. We know we are seeking to match with only those who can meet us where we are: in love.
Love is who you are. Love is your natural state of being. Love, as St. Teresa said, “gives worth to all things.” Therefore, YOU give worth to all things. The Higher You, the you that is pure Love, the you is covered beneath all the things you “want” and is waiting to be revealed when you accept what IS. And what “is?” LOVE.
Relax into love even if just for one day. Let go of what you think you want and allow your Higher Self to take the reins. Then practice letting go more and more often. I know we are somewhat trained these days to concentrate on what we want and “manifest” it into being but we don’t know what is best for us. God knows what is best for us and as they say, God always has a greater plan for us then we could possibly imagine for ourselves. And our Higher Self reveals God to us. So just be. In love, be. And allow yourself to be revealed to you. In that revelation love flows from you and you see with love. And yes, find it, too.
