The Shadows of Fear
by Matthew Scott Donnelly
Neurosis is a mental disease in the brain caused from over obsessive thought. Thought itself has one mission and that is to stay alive and to replicate itself. That is if you allow it to become your master. Neurosis is a direct sign that thought has become your master, because now that it has taken control of your entire body, you are now possessed by it and neurosis has begun its damage.
And until you are aware of your thoughts, the damage of the neurosis will continue and grow. This means that because your mind has made the body it’s master, it is going to continue deepening the slavery of its thoughts.
Known & Unknown
“One is never afraid of the unknown; one is afraid of the known coming to an end."
- Jiddu Krishnamurti
Only the known happens in the experience of this moment. And in the known you are just fine. You may go on having physical pain, but underneath that pain in your total being you are alright. The only pain that you have is in your ‘thinking’.
And because in the experience of this moment, where the totality of your existence is just fine then the known is not a problem.
The problem is of thought is that you are afraid the unknown which in your mind is in the known (Being OK) coming to an end.
You can never experience the future, so you will also never be able to experience the unknown either. In fact, the unknown is a complete illusion all together. Your mind may not have all the information, all the knowledge in the world but since even knowledge is an illusion, then there is no need to have all the information in the world.
Everything ‘you’ need for your peace and love happens in fullness of this moment. This moment is eternal; it is only the thinking-mind that chops the moment up into the future. Understand your thought patterns and start ending the thought of future and with it fear anxiety.
Uncertainty is again caused from the thinking-mind needing to know how the future is going to play out. Uncertainty is caused from the lack of presence which is caused from thinking in your life. You go asking yourself
• How am I going to put food on the table?
• When am I going to get a raise at work?
• When is my husband/wife going to act the way that I want them too?
• I wonder if I will get hired?
• I wonder if I’m going to pass my exams
• When he/she going to text me back.
All day long your mind continues to go when, when, when and so on and so forth. Uncertainty is a dysfunction of the mind conditioning, because of the fear based society that has made its way through our minds.
When do the questions ever end? I mean sure it’s great to learn but sometimes it’s better to just ‘be’ here than to try and learn as much information that we possibly can. It’s not that learning is a bad thing but stuffing our minds with more and more information will just continue to keep our minds running and running and running. And a mind that never stops will always be extremely un-peaceful.
Life, Death & Nothingness
Do you know that there is a whole lot more to death than the physical? It’s true, but what else could possibly die other than the physical? Your mind made ‘self’, ‘personality’, conditioning and everything in between is where the real death comes in.
In the reality of the absolute ‘self’ there is no-thing. The mind however will not accept this. The reason why is that the mind must be filled with thought, it must ‘do’ it must have, it must want the mind wants to going forever. What is the point of the absolute ‘self’ being no-thing? It is in this no-thingness, in this pure hollowness from within in which the soul is has been devoured by eternal experiencing presence.
And in this state of experiencing presence there is no-mind which means you are not just existing but eternal existence is being revealed.
So you see at the very peak of dying, dying to the mind made ‘self’, the mind made ‘time’, the mind made and ultimately the mind made existence is where the totality of ALL living happens.
So you see, even when this ‘self’ fails at something, get’s criticized, get’s yelled at, talked down to always know that the anger or grief that arises is because the ego is trying to protect it’s ‘mind’ made ‘self’. The death of this mind made ‘self’ is when there is no ‘self’ for any of that to affect. by Matthew Scott Donnelly
