Understanding Your Gemini
by Dr. Victoria Scerbo
Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you. - Nathaniel Hawthorne
The butterfly is the perfect analogy for the Gemini, the first Air sign of the zodiac. There is an ethereal quality to Gemini, a lightness of being. Never quite solid and impossible to pin down. They live in the world of ideas and like a butterfly in the garden that moves from flower to flower,
Curiosity is a Gemini trait, this can get them into some trouble, yet if there's a sign that can extricate themselves from sticky situations, especially with a verbal barrage, it's Gemini. Gemini is the sign associated with the thieves and tricksters. There is an amorality about Gemini. This doesn't make them bad people, they are just not above telling a white lie or distracting someone from the truth. Gemini's want to be free to fly to gather more information and it's that need that drives them.
Geminis are also great word smiths no matter what the genre. Take poetry, some of the most recognizable names are found in this group, Walt Whitman, William Butler Yeats, Allen Ginsberg. Famous authors include, Arthur Conan Doyle, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Joyce Carol Oates, Ian Fleming, and Anne Frank. One of the greatest song writers of our generation, Bob Dylan is a Gemini, and the list of Gemini rappers is astounding, Kanye West, Tupac Shakur, Ice Cube and Biggie Smalls. All great word smiths with a story to tell.
So how do you pin down your favorite Gemini? You don't. You let them flit and flutter. If you want stability, you may be barking up the wrong tree. But if you want someone to brighten your day with a witty remark, a funny antidote or a piece of ephemera, Gemini is your sign.
