by Laurie Barraco
That's 68 years! The next time we will experience the moon as a supermoon to this magnitude will be on November 25th, 2034.
What Is A Supermoon?
First of all, a supermoon is not a rare event. In fact, there are 4-6 supermoons each year. A supermoon is when the moon reaches it's perigee. A perigee is when the moon is at it's closest point to the Earth for that month. Also, supermoons usually apear to be 14% larger and 30% brighter than your "regular" full moon. A supermoon may also be during the new moon phase as well.
What Can We Expect During This Time?
If you haven't already marked your calendars for this rare lunar event, please do. It is sure to be a spectacular and lovely sight!
